The Kia Forte Koup is a relatively new entrant to the affordable small cars market, but it is one that arrived with significant buzz and excitement. Korean automaker took a gamble getting cute and naming their coupe a Koup, but it seems to have paid off and the car is doing very well in the market. Expectations are running high for the 2012 model of the Kia Forte Koup and by all appearances so far, Kia does not intend to disappoint.
When the Kia Forte Koup debuted in 2009, reviewers were very excited about this roomy, affordable and feature-rich small car that brought a healthy alternative to the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic. Kia capitalized on the excitement with the 2010 Koup, adding even more features and keeping the price point below that of every other vehicle in its class. For 2012, the buzz is out that Kia is already planning to now include a turbocharged engine option for the Koup, which would make it a much more desirable and nasty competitor for the likes of Volkswagen and Honda.
Not simply satisfied with picking up the pep for its Coupe (Koup), Kia has also hinted that they will have a hybrid version due out in 2012, which would make this already fuel-efficient vehicle dust its competition in this category and possibly bring it within striking range of the laurel-laden Toyota Prius while probably keeping its car pricing significantly less than the $24,000 hybrid leader.

Performance
With turbocharged features, the 2012 Kia Forte Koup promises to step up its game in what is already a peppy little vehicle. Previously powered by either a 2.0L or 2.4L inline 4-liter, the Forte Koup pushes out 156 and 173 hp. A turbocharged version is likely to top the 200hp marker if Kia manages to keep the engine and vehicle as light as they currently are.

How the Kia Forte Compares to Other Affordable Small Cars
Kia has been doing well in the U.S. market against other small cars, managing to increase its market share even in a down economy. Competition includes the Mazada3 which is more fun to drive along with the Volkswagen Rabbit, but neither of which have offered the same fuel efficiency as the Forte. The promise of a hybrid version of the Koup in 2012 will further widen the gap in fuel efficiency and the turbocharged version will serve to bring this car more in line with the Volkswagen GTI or Honda Civic as far as power and performance are concerned.

Add to this Kia’s standard 5-year/60,000 mile limited warranty which is nearly tops in the industry, and you have a vehicle worthy of serious consideration.
