This is my own experience and I would like to share here so we could avoid this unexpected during our trip.
This would be the first and the very last time I rent a car in Vietnam, it is totally disappointed, lesson learned from my trip: try all other transportation (bus, taxi, motorbike, bike, etc before thinking of renting a car in Vietnam)
We were travelling to Da Nang for the New Year Festival, our flight landed in the late evening, getting out of the plane, the environment here make us feel really comfortable. All services including dining, Hotel, beautiful places were going well until we rent a car.
On the second day in Da Nang, we plan to rent a car to go to Ba Na Hills and hang around Da Nang to enjoy the “The Best City to live in”, we came to this Car Rental as this guy seems to be the best one from the Internet (no Household Register required, VND 10mil deposit, VND 700K per day).
And this is what we were offered for VND 700K per day (12 hours)
it does not take into account of the odo at 450,xxx km
and all came to the night when we return the car, there was a fine scratch at the front of the car (really a minor one, our phone has just ran out of battery to take photo
), we even did not feel / know how we got it. The car rental after inspect the car has come back to me and ask for 400K to repaint the front car. I found it ridiculous to claim me 400K just for a fine scratch , and I doubt he does it to all people come to his shop to make money from them , we feel betrayed.
as I compromised by accept to paying 100K as it also my fault to drive the car carelessly, but we cannot accept to pay 400K just for this fine scratch. He did not take any word from me and just take out VND 1 mil (700K + 300K) from my deposit and return the remaining VND 9 mil to us. This really make us angry.
We all understand that with this conditions, the car has been using for transportation service for ages and was not taken care well, but he still treat us like we make a terrible mistake and destroy his car.
Anw, this could be a lesson learned for us, we won't take this to all Car Rental but this guy is so rude and cruel we have been using several Car Rental in Aussie but we never face any issue like this time.
