Subaru of America has announced that the automotive company
has sold 34,483 vehicles in October 2013 alone, making 2013′s grand total at
347,890.
This impressive number far
surpasses last years sales total, which was also a record breaking year with a total of
336,441 units sold in the United States.
These numbers mean that Subaru has hit it’s fifth consecutive year of record-setting sales, with six consecutive years of sales increases. Aside from beating their own previous records, Subaru is the only automotive manufacturer to have increased sales every year for the past six years.
Not surprisingly, the Forester was the highest selling model vehicle for Subaru, and saw an increase of 137 percent, with 12,851 units sold in October.
As previously mentioned,
the Forester was named a 2013 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick, and was also given Motor Trend’s title of 2014 Sport/Utility Vehicle of the Year. These prestigious awards, along with Subaru’s outstanding quality and craftsmanship, have combined to make 2013 another record-breaking year for the brand.
Bill Cyphers is the senior vice president of sales at Subaru of America, and says that Subaru has experienced new as well as returning consumers this past year, saying that, “Almost 60 percent of our sales this year have been to customers new to the brand and we have worked closely with our parent company to smartly manage our inventory to meet the demand.” With such impressive numbers, Subaru of America is looking to make 2014 another record-breaking year.

SUBARU REPORTS RECORD SEPTEMBER SALES
Cherry Hill, N.J., October 1, 2013 - Subaru of America, Inc. today reported 31,755 vehicle sales for the month of September, representing
the best September sales month in company history. September sales increased 15 percent over September 2012. Year-to-date sales for Subaru total 313,407 – 28 percent higher than the same period in 2012. The company is on track to achieve its fifth-consecutive year of sales increases.
Sales for the all-new 2014 Forester remain strong at 10,620 units, a 75 percent increase over September 2012 and a year-to-date increase of 49 percent. Legacy sedan and Outback crossover were recently rated as “superior” in the new Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Front Crash Prevention (FCP) test program. The FCP program was created as a result of research by the Highway Loss Data Institute indicating that forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, such as Subaru’s EyeSight system, are helping drivers avoid frontal crashes.
“Subaru of America is particularly proud of the Legacy and Outback earning the IIHS highest rating in their FCP test,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “This is a testament to the safety and technology advantage provided by the EyeSight driver assist system. It is no wonder more and more people are shopping the Subaru brand.”
“With strong owner loyalty and new owners joining our brand at a record pace, we expect to close the year with more than 400,000 vehicles sold,” said Bill Cyphers, senior vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc.
