theo : carscoop.blogspot Ah, those Dutch. I stand by my claim that they're some of the most beautiful people in the world, but that's neither here nor there. The point here is some Dutch design students cobbled (cloggled?) together a new idea: the stylish, electric, and 15-meter long Superbus.

Hailing all the way from the DUT (Delff University of Technology), the students are doing more than just replacing a city bus; they're creating a new kind of transportation.

The Superbus would hold up to twenty-three passengers who would text/email in their required stops. Here's where it gets a little iffy: gas2.0 says, "The bus then calculates the fastest route." Interesting, but perhaps a tad futuristic.

With an ideal top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), "its length, weight, and usage are all limiting factors." Well, yeah.

As for bonuses, the Superbus Project explains, "Superbus is safe [/b]due to obstacle detection systems (through radar equipment and a fast responding electronic guidance system), high maneuverability and formidable breaking power."

It also features personal compartments for passengers, and "every passenger is provided with a personal, headset and a multimedia screen."

"Superbus is designed to be flexible [/b]regarding different travel needs. The two different interior cabins are designed for people traveling alone or in groups."

Featuring variable ground clearance for minimal drag at speeds and using lithium polymer batteries, the hoped-for range is 130 miles. We shall see.

Scroll down for the specs.
