Hi all,
I'm sorry but my Vietnamese is (still) very bad.
I hope you can help me with this... I'm planning to go this weekend to Da Lat with my new car but I don't know which road do I have to take to go there. On google maps I see it the fastest way is taking the QL20, it seems to go straight there. Another way is following the 1A (Hanoi road) and then at 'Phan Rang-Thap Chan' turn left to take the road QL27. Any other choices? Which road would you take? How about road conditions?
Thanks in advance,
Dani.
P.D. You can reply ịn Vietnamese so this post is also helpful for somebody else.

Hi Daniel,

I guess this is the first time you go to Da lat yourself by driving a car. It is better for you to have a drive on QL20. From Sai Gon Bridge, go along on Ha Noi high way (and QL1A); turn left at Dau Giay T-junction, then you are on QL20.
This weekend, there are many families go to dalat for visiting and relaxing, therefore you should drive carefully. The condition of QL20 is OK, do not worry about that.

Hello Minh,
Thanks for your quick reply. You are right, this is the first time I am driving up to Da Lat... actually I just got the car a week ago so I am still getting used to drive through Ho Chi Minh city streets. I'll be be careful.
Cheers,
Dani.

Hi Daniel,
When and What time you go ? Please noted that, there are so many police on the way we go, so keep the rule when you drive.
Have a good trip.

Hi Minh,
I am planning to leave HCMC this thursday in the afternoon, let's say around 3pm. I hope I don't find much traffic jam that time. I have all the papers in order, insurance, driving license and I mostly always follow all the traffic rules... I hope that's good enough for the police... :(
Cheers,
Dani.

It will take about 8 hours from HCMC to Dalat. If you start at 3pm, in case of there is no traffic jam, you will have to drive through 3 mountain passes at night. I think it's dangerous for you.
Starting at 3 or 4 am is more reasonable

I have a little bit shy to tell you that you have to know how to bribe when the police "wave" to you.
