How much cash did the Obama administration have to throw at CR to have Telsa listed?

You really think Obama likes the Tesla? That's a car that is associated with the rich capitalists--the people Obama hates. Unless of course Obama want's to give poor people a Tesla to go with their free cellphones.

Benjamin Berlinsky Maybe because Tesla paid back its govt. loan in full, with interest, 9 years early?

A Tesla is the top pick?
A $90,000 car? How many of the average consumers will ever buy one of those. What a completely ridiculous and stupid choice

If I ever buy a new car, It will not be based on what CR writes about it. My 96 Ranger is still dependable enough to jump in and drive cross country with 490,000 miles on it. No major or internal engine repairs. Just oil changes, clutches, timing belts etc. Same with my 97 Pathfinder at 380,000 miles. Anal routine maintenance is what its all about. Screw all the haters of any brand, domestic or otherwise. It's not the 70's or 80's anymore

So as a "consumer," if I want a luxury car I should spend over $89K on one I can drive 225 miles then wait 5 hours to recharge?

CR should stick to things you can measure, like the amount of dust a swiffer picks up. They can't be counted on to understand cars.
