Next month, BMW will unveil the
facelifted version of the popular 3 Series family. Along with visual upgrades, the new Life Cycle Impulse will bring significant updates to the powerplant lineup. The new family of engines (BXX) will replace the current generation NXX to offer similar or more power, and lower fuel consumption.
At the top of the lineup, the 335i model is replaced by the
BMW 340i which will produce 326 horsepower. The combined fuel consumption will be 7.4 liters per 100 km (32 mpg) with the manual transmission and 6.6 liters (36 mpg) with the new 8-speed automatic. These numbers are preliminary and might change based on EPA regulations.
From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), the 340i will need just 5.2 seconds (manual) or 5.0 seconds (automatic).
The exterior updates include a revised front bumper and rear bumper, larger taillpipes, full LED headlights and fog lights, and redesigned L-shaped taillights. The chassis and suspension have been reworked as well, so we expect to see improved steering and a sportier ride.
Inside the cabin, the new 3 Series Facelift will feature new trim lines and leather options, and more chrome elements.
Three new exterior colors will be offered: Jatoba Metallic, Mediterranean Blue and Platinum Silver.
Sales of the new 3 Series LCI will begin this summer.
